Advance Antenna Techniques

Below is brief introduction of various Advance Antenna techniques used in Tikona Wireless Broadband Network .These techniques are not exclusive to Tikona Network and are used on variety of Wireless Networks including Cellualr/LTE .Below description is simplified and brief but , of course , you can Google and know more about these techniques .

Adaptive Antennas (AA)

Adaptive Antenna dynamically change the inherent directionality of antenna patterns through digital switching of many antenna elements, packet by packet, with closed-loop optimization on achieved throughput.Adaptive antenna uses multiple antennas and an algorithm in order to maximize the strength of the signals being sent and received while eliminating, or at least reducing, interference.

This results in Better downlink signal quality and Link stability .

MIMO or Spatial Multiplexing (SM)

MIMO technology leverages multipath behavior by using multiple, “smart” transmitters and receivers with an added “spatial” dimension to dramatically increase performance and range. MIMO allows multiple antennas to send and receive multiple spatial streams (Coded ) at the same time.

Doubles or triples data rates when conditions (i.e. SNR ) allow; essential to high 802.11 N data rates .

Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC)

Maximal-ratio combining (MRC) is a method of diversity combining in which
the received signals from Multipaths (Channels) are combined together .The gain of each channel is made proportional to the RMS signal level and inversely proportional to the mean square noise level in that channel. Different proportionality constants are used for each channel.

This usually results in better uplink signal quality.

Adaptive Polarization Diversity (APD)

Polarization diversity is a diversity technique where antennas of different polarizations, i.e., horizontal and vertical, are used to provide diversity reception. The antennas take advantage of the multipath propagation characteristics to receive separate uncorrelated signals.

Adaptive Polarization Diversity automatically changes antenna orientation to send and receive vertical and horizontal waves, selectively .This is crucial for ensuring signal quality in today's smartphone- and tablet- driven client base (with arbitrary position and orientation) .

Transmit Beamforming (TxBF)

TxBF works on the principle that signals sent on separate antennas can be coordinated to combine constructively at the receive antenna. Specifically, the phases of the transmit signals are manipulated to improve directivity. TxBF uses on-chip signal processing to alter phases of multiple transmit signals, to generate stronger signal at client location . TxBF can an provide modest downlink performance enhancement given explicit feedback from clients .
